Shards and the Upgrade station
Every piece of gear has a rarity, and shards are the upgrade currency for that rarity: Common Shards for Common gear, Rare Shards for Rare gear, and so on. The Crafting station's Dismantle Mode "destroys the equipment for Shards of the same Rarity", which is why every guide tells you to pick up every drop, even bad ones. The tutorial quest Sparks and Shards makes you do both once: dismantle a spare item, then upgrade a weapon.
| Shard | Shard Chest | Merchant stock chance |
|---|---|---|
| Common Shard | 449 / 1,000 | 37 / 100 |
| Rare Shard | 280 / 1,000 | 31 / 100 |
| Secret Shard | 8 / 1,000 | 1 / 1,000 |
| Unknown Shard | 3 / 1,000 | 1 / 5,000 |
Consumables you can craft
Apples restore 30 HP. Eight Apples and two Health Potions make a Golden Apple, and 5 Eggs with 2 Milk make a Cake; the crafting page has every recipe we have seen. The Merchant sells Health Potions for 150 Coins.
Item FAQ
What are shards for?
Shards pay for upgrades. The Upgrade station raises a weapon or armor piece using shards of the same rarity plus Coins; in one video a Common scythe went from 32.5 to 35.8 damage for 1 shard and 100 Coins. You get shards by dismantling spare gear at the Crafting station, from Shard Chests and from the Merchant.
How do I get a Reset Point?
The Index lists the Daily Login track, the Forever Pack and the Merchant (5 in 100). It refunds every stat point you have spent.
What does "Exist" mean on an item?
Item tooltips show how many copies exist across all players, for example "37.8K Exist" on the XP Totem and "254.2K Exist" on the Basic Dagger. It is a rarity signal, not a limit.
