The Tier Filter lays the tiers out in three rows of three per letter: Z+ Z Z- and S+ S S-, A+ A A- and B+ B B-, C+ C C- and D+ D D-, then F+ F F-. There is no E tier.
How to reroll a tier
- Go to the Tiers station (the scroll on a pedestal next to the Upgrade tent in the starting town).
- Pick the item. The screen shows the item, the scroll and "???" for the result, with your current tier under the item.
- Press Roll, or hold it to auto reroll. Each roll uses one scroll of the matching type: Weapon, Armor or Mount.
- Before auto-rolling, open Filter and select the tiers you would be happy with. "Selected Tiers will be kept."
Tier changes the item's stats. In ItzVexo's video the same upgraded (+1) Basic Dagger read 8.4 damage at F-, 10.4 at C- and 11 at C, so moving from F- to C was worth about 30% more damage on a starter weapon.

There is also a Tier Luck game pass listed on the game's store page, but it had no price on September 18, which means it is not for sale right now. The shop page has the passes that are.
Rarity is separate
Rarity (the Index shows Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Godly, Secret and Unknown items) is fixed when an item drops and decides which shard upgrades it. Tier is what you reroll. For the best starting weapons by drop source, see the enemy drop tables.

What is the best tier in Poly Loot?
Z+ is the top of the 21 tiers shown in the Tier Filter, followed by Z and Z-, then S+, S and S-. A Z tier is listed as 1 in 10,000 on the Z Tier badge, and only 0.4% of players have that badge.
Is tier or rarity more important?
They stack. Rarity is fixed when the item drops; tier is rolled with scrolls and changes the item's damage. In ItzVexo's video the same upgraded (+1) Basic Dagger showed 8.4 damage at F-, 10.4 at C- and 11 at C, so a better tier is a real stat boost on any item.
How does tier pity work?
The reroll screen shows two counters: S Tier Pity out of 125 and Z Tier Pity out of 10,000. Each roll adds 1 to both. The game does not explain the reward in words, but a pity counter normally guarantees that tier when it fills.
Can a reroll make my item worse?
Yes. The Armor Tier Scroll description says "The new Tier can be better or worse." Use the Filter button before auto-rolling; the Tier Filter says "Selected Tiers will be kept".
